Minnesota identifies five most hazardous job sectors

A survey conducted by Hansford Law has identified the most hazardous job sectors in Minnesota for 2026. The study utilized fatal injury rates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, comparing the number of fatal injuries against total hours worked within various employment sectors.

In the manufacturing sector, the survey noted 1.8 fatal injuries for every 100,000 workers. The report highlights that while Minnesota hosts a diverse economy with nearly 200,000 business establishments providing approximately 2.9 million jobs as of 2022, certain professions in agriculture, construction, and transportation carry significantly higher risks to worker health and safety.
