Minnesota men sentenced for deadly Georgia gang shooting

Two men from Minnesota have been sentenced to 40 years in prison for their roles in a January 2022 gang-related shooting in Snellville, Georgia. Salih Ahmad Abdi, 24, and Abdulrahman Munye Haji-Sufi, 24, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including violations of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, aggravated assault, and firearm possession during the commission of a felony.

During the sentencing, Abdi was ordered to serve 25 years in prison, while Haji-Sufi will serve 30 years. The shooting, which targeted members of rival gangs, resulted in the death of 28-year-old Tewodros “Teddy” Haile and left 36-year-old Fahmi Omer Ahmed with six gunshot wounds.

Investigators from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation traced the suspects from Minneapolis to Georgia using rental vehicle records and license plate reader cameras. Prosecutors identified the defendants as members of the Somalian Outlawz criminal street gang and described them as “expendable paid hitmen.”
