Minnesota noncitizens indicted for alleged illegal voting

A U.S. federal grand jury has indicted 10 noncitizens in Minnesota on charges related to illegal voting and making false claims of U.S. citizenship. Among those indicted are three Liberian nationals: Bhator Konah Bryant, 61; Alan Barbu Kargbo, 48; and Chis Adam Pettiquoi, 43.

Kargbo and Pettiquoi face charges of making false claims of citizenship to vote and voting by an alien, allegedly occurring during the November 5, 2024, presidential election. Bryant is charged with making a false claim of citizenship during voter registration on October 18, 2024, though she is not accused of casting a ballot.

Convictions for these offenses can result in up to five years in prison and significant fines. U.S. officials noted that those convicted also face potential deportation. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated that the department intends to pursue criminal charges and deportation for noncitizens who attempt to vote in American elections.
