Minnesota State Fair hosts 15th annual Military Appreciation Day

The 15th annual Military Appreciation Day was held at the Minnesota State Fair in Falcon Heights on September 1, 2026. The event, themed ‘Your Neighbors, Our Community – Honoring all Service Members,’ brought together veterans, service members, and military organizations to celebrate those who have served.

Senator Amy Klobuchar spoke at the event, describing the honorees as ordinary Minnesotans who chose to defend the nation. The ceremony included a C-130 Hercules flyover and the performance of the 34th Infantry Division Red Bull Band.

Four service members received special recognition for their actions: Army Master Sgt. Ryan Kelly for his response during the Annunciation School shooting; Army Sgt. Jonathan Erickson for his community service as a firefighter paramedic; Air Force Tech. Sgt. Mary Andrzejek for medical logistics coordination during Operation Epic Fury; and Army Spc. Ryan Boecker for assisting in a life-saving medical event.
