Eden Prairie shooting suspect released on $100,000 bond
Adam Abdihakeem Adam, an 18-year-old accused of shooting two teenagers during an Eden Prairie High School homecoming football game on October 2, has been released from jail after posting a $100,000 bond. The shooting, which occurred in a parking lot following a disturbance, wounded two Somali males and led to the evacuation of the stadium. Investigators believe the incident is linked to rival Somali gangs.
In addition to Adam, who faces two felony counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of second-degree riot, four other men—Musab Ibrahim Aden, Omar Adan Abdullahi, Abdirahman Ahmed Jama, and Mahamed Ali Haji—have been charged with third-degree riot via arrest warrants. As of recent reports, these four individuals had not yet been arrested.
The incident has sparked political debate regarding crime and bail policies in Minnesota. Gubernatorial candidates Lisa Demuth and Amy Klobuchar have both addressed the shooting, with Demuth calling for a statewide gang task force and Klobuchar proposing a regional task force to combat gang violence.
