Jonathan Kuminga joins Minnesota Timberwolves on two-year deal

Jonathan Kuminga has officially joined the Minnesota Timberwolves on a two-year, $12.4 million contract, which includes a player option for the second season. During his introductory press conference, Kuminga described the move as ‘one of the best decisions I’ve made,’ citing the team's young roster and recent success as primary motivators.

Kuminga reportedly turned down formal offers from the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, and Portland Trail Blazers to join Minnesota. The Timberwolves intend to utilize the 23-year-old forward in a starting role, likely at power forward, following the trades of Julius Randle and Naz Reid. This move complements other significant offseason acquisitions, including LaMelo Ball.

All-Star guard Anthony Edwards expressed high confidence in the revamped roster, suggesting the Timberwolves are now major contenders. The new-look starting group is expected to feature Edwards, Ball, Jaden McDaniels, Kuminga, and Rudy Gobert.
