Minnesota Timberwolves defeat Milwaukee Bucks in preseason opener
The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 116-97 in their NBA preseason opener at Fiserv Forum. The game featured the debut of LaMelo Ball for Minnesota, who briefly made headlines with a deep three-pointer from the center-court logo that was waved off by officials due to a clock malfunction.
The Timberwolves showcased a faster offensive tempo driven by the new duo of Ball and Anthony Edwards. Edwards contributed 14 points, while Ball recorded 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Other notable performances for Minnesota included 12 points from Joan Beringer and scoring from newcomer Jonathan Kuminga.
For the Bucks, head coach Taylor Jenkins expressed dissatisfaction with the team's performance, stating they were “far from where we need to be” and noting that “defense was lacking for 48 minutes.” The loss marks a new chapter for Milwaukee following the departure of Giannis Antetokounmpo. Despite the defeat, rookie Ryan Rollins led the Bucks with 15 points, and Kel’el Ware recorded a double-double.
