Minnesota Timberwolves sign five‑year local streaming deal with DAZN
The Minnesota Timberwolves have entered a five‑year agreement with global sports streaming platform DAZN that makes DAZN the exclusive home for the franchise’s locally broadcast games. The deal replaces the former regional sports network arrangement after the collapse of the FanDuel/Bally Sports affiliate that previously carried the team’s games. All regular‑season and preseason games will be streamed via a dedicated Timberwolves hub on the DAZN app, with fifteen games offered for free each season.
Timberwolves CEO Matthew Caldwell said the partnership aims to give fans direct, on‑demand access to games on phones, tablets and TVs, and noted an opt‑out clause after the first year. While DAZN will pay the team for the rights, financial terms were not disclosed. The NBA’s national broadcast partners retain exclusivity for up to 15 games on platforms such as Peacock, Prime Video and ESPN. The agreement reflects a broader shift away from struggling regional sports networks toward streaming‑first models, with DAZN expanding its presence in the United States alongside its existing rights in the NFL, NHL, soccer and other leagues.
