Minnesota Timberwolves to retire Kevin Garnett's No. 21 jersey
The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced they will retire Kevin Garnett’s No. 21 jersey on February 28, 2027. The ceremony will take place at the Target Center following a home game against the Boston Celtics.
Garnett, a Hall of Famer who joined the franchise directly from high school in 1995, holds several Timberwolves records, including all-time leader in points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and games played. His tenure in Minnesota included eight consecutive playoff appearances and an NBA MVP award in 2004.
The decision follows a period of tension between Garnett and former owner Glen Taylor. Under new ownership by Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez, Garnett has returned to the organization as a Team Ambassador. He becomes only the second player in franchise history to have his jersey retired, following Malik Sealy.
