Minnesota Timberwolves undergo ownership change and major roster overhaul

The Minnesota Timberwolves are undergoing significant structural changes involving both ownership and the active roster. Marc Lore is selling his majority stake in the Timberwolves and Lynx to limited partner Marc Stad at a $4.5 billion valuation. While Lore is exiting to focus on his venture, Wonder, Alex Rodriguez will remain as the second-largest partner and a visible owner. Elisa Stad is expected to be named governor of the franchise.

On the court, the team has executed an aggressive roster overhaul led by president of basketball operations Tim Connelly. In a four-team trade involving the Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, and Charlotte Hornets, the Timberwolves acquired LaMelo Ball. In exchange, Minnesota sent Julius Randle, Naz Reid, and a future first-round draft pick to complete the deal. The team also secured the long-term future of Ayo Dosunmu with a five-year, $112 million extension and re-signed Jaylen Clark and Bones Hyland.
