Minnesota Twins Trade for A.J. Minter, Add Billy Amick and Dean Kremer
On July 31, the Minnesota Twins completed a series of trade‑deadline moves. The club sent former Clemson and Tennessee third‑baseman Billy Amick, along with shortstop Bruin Agbayani, to the New York Mets in exchange for left‑handed reliever A.J. Minter. Amick, a 23‑year‑old prospect who was the No. 32 overall prospect on MLB.com’s Top 250 list, had been playing at Double‑A with a .217/.338/.482 slash line and 23 home runs.
In a separate deal, the Twins acquired right‑handed starter Dean Kremer from the Baltimore Orioles. Kremer, a 30‑year‑old who posted an ERA above 6.00 this season after returning from a quad injury, is slated to make his first start for Minnesota against the Kansas City Royals. The acquisitions aim to bolster both the bullpen and the starting rotation as the Twins chase a wild‑card spot.
