Minnesota Vikings designate RB Jordan Mason for return from IR
The Minnesota Vikings have officially designated running back Jordan Mason to return from injured reserve. Mason has been sidelined since Week 1 after sustaining a fractured thumb during a game against the Green Bay Packers.
Following the team’s Week 6 bye, Mason is scheduled to return to practice this Wednesday. His return is expected to alleviate the workload for veteran running back Aaron Jones, who has served as the primary lead back during Mason’s absence. Jones has averaged 82 rushing yards per game and has seen a high percentage of offensive snaps while playing a bell-cow role.
Mason, who previously played for the San Francisco 49ers, recorded 809 yards from scrimmage during his first season in Minnesota. His activation will likely result in a shared backfield arrangement with Jones and may impact the team's roster depth at the position.
