The team restructured its offensive line coaching staff, hiring Frank Smith as assistant head coach and promoting Keith Carter to offensive line coach to improve scheme execution and create better rushing lanes.

During preseason action against the New York Giants, the Vikings' commitment to the ground attack was evident. The team’s first offensive snap featured heavy personnel and a handoff to veteran running back Aaron Jones. Quarterback Kyler Murray, who was recently named the starter, participated in nine snaps, six of which were rushing attempts. Murray demonstrated command at the line of scrimmage by checking into specific runs to facilitate the team's new offensive direction.
