Minnesota Vikings sign HBCU standout Jarod Washington

The Minnesota Vikings have signed cornerback Jarod Washington to their 90-man training camp roster. Washington, a former South Carolina State standout, joins the team following his recognition as the 2025 MEAC Defensive Player of the Year and a finalist for HBCU National Player of the Year.

The roster move comes as veteran cornerback James Pierre is sidelined by injury. To accommodate Washington, the Vikings waived rookie running back Kejon Owens, who had been listed under a non-football illness designation.

After going undrafted and participating in rookie minicamps with the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington enters the NFL camp with significant athletic credentials. During his final season at South Carolina State, he led the FCS with 20 pass breakups and recorded 32 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble.
