Minnesota Vikings sign Jihad Ward to practice squad

The Minnesota Vikings have bolstered their defensive depth by signing outside linebacker Jihad Ward to the practice squad. Ward, a former member of the team, returns to provide support for the edge-rushing unit.

The move follows a failed attempt to re-sign edge rusher Kenny Dyson Jr. The NFL prevented the Vikings from immediately bringing Dyson back due to league rules regarding injury settlements, which require a waiting period after a player is released with such a designation.

Additionally, the Vikings are preparing for the debut of veteran Kyle Van Noy. A two-time Super Bowl winner, Van Noy joined the practice squad to serve as a rotational backup to starters Dallas Turner and Andrew Van Ginkel. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores, who has previously coached Van Noy, is expected to utilize the veteran in a rotational role to maintain pass-rush pressure.
