Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin signs multi-year extension

Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain with the organization. This announcement follows a recent extension for head coach John Hynes.

Guerin, who won the 2026 NHL GM of the Year award, has overseen significant roster moves during his seven-year tenure, including the signing of Kirill Kaprizov and the blockbuster trade for defenseman Quinn Hughes. While fans have been anticipating an extension for Hughes, the player has indicated he intends to handle his own contract negotiations on his own timeline.

Following the acquisition of Hughes, the Wild saw a significant increase in offensive production, rising from 2.8 goals per game to 3.5 goals per game during the period he played 50 games with the team. This momentum helped the franchise secure its first playoff series victory since 2015 by defeating the Dallas Stars 4–2.
