Minors in Brazil invest R$ 3.5 billion in stock market
Minors up to 17 years old in Brazil have accumulated approximately R$ 3.5 billion in variable income investments on the B3 stock exchange. According to B3 data, there are currently 60,800 investors in this age group, representing a 58% increase since December 2022.
Of these investors, nearly 46,000 hold stocks and approximately 31,500 invest in real estate funds. There is also significant interest in education-focused products; the Tesouro Educa+ public bond has 12,900 investors under 17, with a median balance of R$ 2,500.
Financial planners note that this trend reflects families seeking to secure funds for future expenses such as university or study abroad programs. Experts emphasize that while compound interest benefits early investing, families must prioritize essential expenses and emergency reserves to avoid premature withdrawals.
