Minsur announces multi-million dollar investments in Peru mining operations

Minsur S.A. has proposed a series of investments to enhance its mining and processing operations in Peru. The company submitted a technical report to Senace for its San Rafael mining unit in Puno, detailing a US$22 million investment. This plan focuses on consolidating current operations through improvements in personnel safety, such as increasing concrete production for underground support, and relocating maintenance workshops and dining facilities to improve working conditions.

The San Rafael proposal also includes infrastructure upgrades for electrical backup and water management. To increase efficiency, Minsur plans to incorporate permanent electrical testing facilities and reinforce water conduction systems to handle higher flows during rainfall. Additionally, the company aims to increase water recirculation to reduce fresh water consumption.

Separately, Minsur is planning a US$9.6 million investment to upgrade its tin smelting and refinery plant in Pisco. This expansion includes increasing slag depot capacity by 20 percent to accommodate an additional 75,000 cubic meters, as well as installing a new 100-ton capacity scale. These upgrades are intended to stabilize production processes. These moves come alongside the company's larger Justa Subterránea project in Ica, which is estimated to require over US$500 million and is slated to begin operations in 2028.
