MinTIC Secretary General Magda Yolima Amaya Arévalo resigns

Magda Yolima Amaya Arévalo has resigned as the Secretary General of Colombia's Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MinTIC), just three days after taking office. Amaya assumed her position on August 12, 2026, following her appointment via Resolution 1194.

Her resignation, effective August 15, 2026, follows a public directive from President Abelardo de la Espriella. The President instructed MinTIC Minister Alexandra Falla to conduct rigorous background checks on all individuals being appointed to the ministry's team. While the timing of the resignation coincides with this scrutiny, official administrative documents accepting her departure do not cite labor background issues or government incompatibility as the reason for her exit.

Amaya is required to complete a formal handover of her duties and prepare a report for her professional record as per internal ministry procedures.
