MintNeuro raises $5m to scale brain-computer interface chip technology

MintNeuro, a spinout from Imperial College London, has raised $5 million to accelerate the commercialization of its semiconductor platform designed for neural devices and brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). The funding round was led by Odyssey Ventures, with participation from JSK Investments, 33East, and Alumni Ventures. Returning investors included Empirical Ventures and Jumpspace Ventures.

The company develops specialized chips for a range of applications, from medical implants to wearable devices. Its modular architecture is designed to support neural sensing, signal processing, and stimulation, aiming to provide better performance than generic components while reducing the costs and risks typically associated with custom chip design.

MintNeuro has already reached integration milestones with partners such as Motif Neurotech and Amber Therapeutics. Notably, the company has a multi-year chip supply agreement with Motif Neurotech to support the development of a minimally invasive neurostimulator for treatment-resistant depression. The new capital will be used to expand engineering and commercial teams, launch products, and strengthen the company’s presence in the United States.
