Minturno construction fraud triggers arrests of three suspects
Carabinieri Forestale of Spigno Saturnia investigated demolition and reconstruction work on a property in Via San Pietro Apostolo, Minturno (LT). Technical inspections and witness statements showed that the declared height of the new building was greater than the actual structure, and that the previous building was lower and lacked a basement, indicating falsification of the “ante operam” state.
The investigators referred the property owners, the client and the project designer to the judicial authority for alleged violations of Italian building regulations (art. 44 DPR 380/2001), omission of seismic‑zone work notification, and ideological falsity of public certificates (arts. 481‑483 c.p.). Convictions could carry up to two years’ imprisonment and fines ranging from €15,000 to €51,645. The case is currently in the preliminary investigation phase.
