Miodrag Linta calls for memorial center for Serbian victims

Miodrag Linta, President of the Association of Serbs from the Region, has stated that Croatia has not confronted its dark past regarding crimes committed against Serbs. His comments come on the 31st anniversary of the massacre of six Serbian civilians in the Grubori hamlet near Knin.

Linta noted that the killings occurred on August 25, 1995, twenty-one days after Operation Storm. He described the incident as a monstrous crime where victims were killed by gunfire, slaughtered, or burned alive in their homes, emphasizing that no members of the Croatian military or police have been convicted for these or many other crimes against Serbs.

As a result, Linta argued that Serbia has a national, civilizational, and moral obligation to establish a Memorial Center for Serbian Victims in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. The proposed center would aim to seek truth regarding the suffering of the Serbian people, compile lists of victims and execution sites, install memorial plaques, and preserve the memory of the victims.
