Miodrag Linta criticizes Croatia's portrayal of Serbia as a security threat
Miodrag Linta, President of the Alliance of Serbs from the Region, has criticized statements made by Croatian Defense Minister Ivan Anušić, accusing Zagreb of systematically portraying Serbia as a security threat. Linta argues that such rhetoric is used to justify Croatia's own military objectives and to deepen defense cooperation with Albania and authorities in Pristina.
Linta further challenged Anušić's claims regarding the origins of the wars in the former Yugoslavia, labeling them an attempt to rewrite history and shift responsibility away from the policies of the Franjo Tuđman regime. He asserted that current Croatian leadership, led by the HDZ, continues these policies to maintain a perception of Serbia as a permanent enemy, thereby diverting attention from domestic issues such as the handling of Ustaše heritage and historical crimes against Serbs.
Regarding regional stability, Linta stated that using Serbia's military strengthening as a justification for Croatian rearmament and regional defense partnerships fosters distrust rather than stability. He emphasized that both Croatia and Serbia should have the equal right to modernize their armed forces.
