Romania reports multiple incidents of domestic violence and criminal assault

Romania has seen several distinct incidents of domestic violence and criminal activity reported across different regions.

In Suceava, a 39-year-old man was detained for attempting to murder his 61-year-old mother by stabbing her in the neck during an alcohol-fueled dispute in Petia. The victim managed to flee and hide in a cornfield before calling emergency services.

In Gorj, a 31-year-old woman was placed under judicial control following an incident where her 13-year-old daughter reported being physically assaulted by her and her partner. While initial reports suggested more severe threats, investigators confirmed the girl suffered injuries to her shoulder from being struck with a belt and hand.

In Curtea de Argeș, a 69-year-old man was detained after allegedly stabbing his 36-year-old daughter-in-law with a knife while she was attempting to intervene in a conflict between him and his wife.

Additionally, in Cluj-Napoca, a 26-year-old woman received a prison sentence of 10 years and one month for her role in assisting a minor in stealing two backpacks from a restaurant in 2021.
