Mir Alam Tank to be transformed into Hyderabad tourism hub

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has inspected ongoing development projects at Mir Alam Tank in Hyderabad, aiming to transform the historic site into a major tourism and recreation hub. The project, overseen by the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation, includes the construction of an iconic suspension bridge and the rejuvenation of the lake.

Key components of the development plan include the creation of islands for nature-based leisure and glamping, the introduction of water sports and boating, and the establishment of food courts, green parks, and pedestrian-friendly public spaces. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for world-class designs and tourist-friendly amenities, particularly given the site's proximity to Hyderabad’s international airport.

To ensure environmental sustainability, officials have been directed to prevent sewage from entering the tank and to widen canals to facilitate the smooth flow of floodwater into the Musi River. The project also aims to explore private participation and the potential for the area to serve as a destination for weddings and events.
