Mirabella Imbaccari police arrest 31-year-old after chainsaw threat and racist insults

Carabinieri in Mirabella Imbaccari, province of Catania, arrested a 31‑year‑old resident after he brandished a chainsaw, repeatedly struck the door of an apartment building and shouted racist insults toward foreign occupants. The suspect damaged the door, forced the residents to seek refuge on the building’s terrace and was found carrying a multi‑purpose knife.

He has been charged with personal injury, threats, illegal possession of an offensive object and aggravated conduct motivated by racial discrimination. The victims include a 27‑year‑old resident of foreign origin and a 60‑year‑old property owner. The investigation, led by the local Carabinieri and the Prosecutor’s Office in Caltagirone, continues with further witness interviews and site inspections.
