Mirae Asset launches Digital X to expand into digital finance

Mirae Asset Financial Group, a major South Korean financial conglomerate, has announced its entry into digital finance through a new platform called Digital X. The group aims to reach a scale of 150 trillion won (approximately 109 billion USD) in the digital finance sector.

Digital X was developed following the acquisition of a 97.15% stake in the South Korean crypto exchange Korbit by Mirae Asset Consulting in July 2026. The platform is designed to integrate various digital assets, including crypto assets, stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets (RWA), and security tokens (STO). Specific plans include the tokenization of gold, silver, and electricity.

Chairman Park Hyeon-joo identified Digital X as a core component of the ‘Mirae Asset 3.0’ growth strategy. The group intends to leverage its existing client base, which manages approximately 1.5 quadrillion won (1.1 trillion USD) in assets, to expand this new business line. Management aims to achieve profitability for the digital asset division as early as 2027. To support this expansion, the group is considering a capital injection of up to 300 billion won (220 million USD) for Digital X.
