Mirae Asset predicts Indonesian market growth and Danantara's role in BEI management
Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia anticipates opportunities for the domestic market to strengthen in the second half of 2026 as external pressures on Indonesia subside. Chief Economist Rully Arya Wisnubroto noted that a weakening US dollar and a stronger rupiah provide space for authorities to maintain stability while supporting economic growth. However, investors are advised to monitor inflation, exchange rate stability, fiscal credibility, and corporate earnings.
In the banking sector, analysts highlight that while credit growth remains strong, liquidity is expected to remain tight despite significant fund deployments. This environment is creating a new landscape for the banking industry characterized by both opportunities and challenges.
Additionally, the plan for Danantara Indonesia (Daya Anagata Nusantara) to manage shares of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) has received positive economic outlooks. Under the P2SK Law, the demutualization of the BEI allows for ownership by the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, and Danantara. Danantara's Chief Investment Officer, Pandu Sjahrir, confirmed that discussions are underway with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) regarding joint ownership of the exchange. Economists express optimism that Danantara's professional management could drive more state-owned enterprise (BUMN) initial public offerings (IPOs).
