Mirafiori plant faces extended production suspension
The Mirafiori plant in Italy is entering November with continued production suspensions affecting approximately 1,000 workers. The stoppage specifically impacts the bodywork departments related to the Fiat 500 model, including both electric and hybrid versions.
This latest measure follows a previous suspension in October. While the plant hosts various other production programs, the current redundancy fund (cassa integrazione) is concentrated on the Fiat 500 family. The Uilm union reports that approximately 1,400 people across the industrial complex are involved in various suspension measures.
Labor representatives, including Fiom, have contested the lack of supplies as a reason for the intermittent production cycles. The current suspension is scheduled to run through November 8, though the continuity of the second shift remains uncertain.
