Miranda rescue teams search for couple missing in Los Teques floods
Search and rescue operations continue in Miranda state, Venezuela, to locate Richard Borges and María Alejandra Mijares, who disappeared on August 22. The couple was swept away by the overflowing El Alambique creek in Los Teques during heavy rains caused by tropical wave number 40.
Their vehicle was previously discovered completely destroyed in the creek bed. Their 12-year-old daughter, who was traveling with them, was rescued from the current and received medical treatment at Victorino Santaella Hospital.
Emergency responders, including over 70 officials and volunteers, have extended their search area from Valle Alto toward San Camilo and the San Pedro River. Monitoring efforts have also expanded to include strategic points in Barlovento, Valles del Tuy, and the Macarao sector of Caracas.
