Mirandola double homicide: Daniele Tavoni remains in custody

Daniele Tavoni, 54, remains in prison following a court order regarding the brutal double homicide of his mother, Vincenza Giannini, 74, and his stepfather, Pietro Casari, 82, in Mirandola.

The victims were discovered decapitated in their home on October 15. During a hearing in Modena, Tavoni exercised his right to remain silent. Judge Alessandra Sermarini validated the request for pretrial detention, citing serious evidence of guilt.

Investigators recovered knives with blood traces in the suspect's adjacent residence, along with significant amounts of blood. Preliminary findings suggest the motive may be linked to economic tensions, as Tavoni reportedly had unstable employment and had frequently requested money from the victims.
