Mirandola: Elderly couple found murdered and decapitated

An elderly couple has been found dead in their home in the countryside of Mirandola, Italy. The victims, identified as 74-year-old Vincenza Giannini and 83-year-old Pier Ferdinando Casari, were found with severe mutilations, including decapitation.

Authorities have detained Daniele Tavoni, the 55-year-old son of Giannini, as a primary suspect. Tavoni was discovered at the scene in a state of shock with blood-stained clothing. Investigators are examining potential motives involving family tensions and economic disputes. It has been noted that Tavoni had previously received treatment at a psychiatric facility for a psychotic disorder.

The victims were well-known in their community; Giannini was a former biomedical factory worker, and Casari was described as a mild-mannered man. The incident has caused significant shock in the Mirandola region.
