Mirandola hospital faces emergency room overcrowding crisis
Local associations in Mirandola have issued a formal complaint to district mayors and the Unione dei Comuni Modenesi Area Nord regarding critical conditions at the Santa Maria Bianca hospital emergency room.
The Comitato Salviamo l’Ospedale della Bassa, supported by La Nostra Mirandola Odv and Giardino Botanico La Pica Odv, reports an increase in patients being held in Short Intensive Observation (OBI) for up to three days. This exceeds the scientific recommendation of 24 to 36 hours.
The associations cite concerns over improper access by chronic or terminal palliative care patients and highlight systemic issues, including staff shortages and a reduction in available beds from the regionally mandated 138 down to 98.
