Mirandola launches free self-defense course for women

The municipality of Mirandola is relaunching its free female self-defense course for women in the Bassa Modenese region. The program is scheduled to run from October 7, 2026, to May 26, 2027, with sessions held every Wednesday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

The course is led by Nicoletta Magnoni, a 5th Dan Karate master, and Dino Ghelli, a 6th Dan Karate master. Beyond teaching physical defense techniques, the initiative aims to provide tools for recognizing and preventing dangerous situations, increasing personal safety, and building self-confidence.

Lisa Secchia, the Equal Opportunities Councilor for Mirandola, stated that the course offers a concrete opportunity for women to gain security and manage difficult situations through training and shared learning. The program focuses on promoting female autonomy and awareness of personal rights and safety.
