Mirandola: Man arrested for decapitating mother and her husband

Authorities in Mirandola, Italy, have arrested a 54-year-old man following the discovery of two decapitated bodies in a rural home. The victims have been identified as 74-year-old Vincenza Giannini and 83-year-old Pier Ferdinando Casari.

The discovery was made after neighbors reported they had not seen the couple for several days. Upon entering the residence, emergency responders found the home in disarray with signs of a violent struggle. Investigators reportedly found blood-stained tools in an adjacent house where the suspect, identified as the woman's son, Daniele Tavoni, was located.

Tavoni is facing charges of voluntary homicide aggravated by kinship and cruelty. Following an interrogation in which he reportedly made no statements, he was transferred to a prison in Modena. Investigators are currently conducting scientific analysis to reconstruct the sequence of events and are looking into the suspect's psychiatric history.
