Mireille Mathieu begins farewell tour in Germany
French chanson singer Mireille Mathieu has launched her final German concert tour, titled “Goodbye my Love Goodbye. Das Finale der Welt-Abschiedstournee”. The 80-year-old icon kicked off the tour with a performance at the Stadthalle Chemnitz on Wednesday night.
Following the Chemnitz opening, the tour includes scheduled stops in Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Baden-Baden, Hannover, Nürnberg, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Mannheim, München, and Leipzig throughout late October and November. Mathieu, often referred to as the “Spatz von Avignon,” has maintained a strong connection to Germany for six decades, having been honored in 1984 for her contributions to Franco-German friendship.
Despite health challenges, Mathieu described her preparation for the tour as being akin to that of an athlete. The singer previously announced her intention to step back from long-term touring in 2024, making this series of performances her final engagement in the country.
