Mireille Mathieu celebrates 80th birthday in Avignon

French singer Mireille Mathieu turned 80 on July 22 and marked the milestone with a white‑themed celebration in her hometown of Avignon. She wore a Chanel dress, shoes and bag and hosted the party at the Hotel d’Europe in the city centre. All fourteen of her siblings, who had last gathered together in 2019, attended, making the reunion a rare family occasion. Her youngest brother Vincent, a pastry chef, provided a specially made cake, and the siblings sang a traditional birthday song together.

Mathieu, whose career spans over six decades with more than 133 million records sold, continues to tour and give interviews. The singer reflected on her modest upbringing in Avignon, where her father worked as a stone‑cutter and her mother managed a poor household, and credited her family for her lasting values.
