Mireille Mathieu Turns 80, Launches Farewell ‘Goodbye My Love Goodbye’ Tour in Germany and Austria

French chanson legend Mireille Mathieu celebrated her 80th birthday on 22 July 2026. The singer, known as the “Spatz von Avignon,” affirmed that she still feels stage fright, saying, “Ich habe Lampenfieber.” Over a six‑decade career she has recorded more than 1 200 songs in twelve languages, sold around 190 million records and performed over 3 000 concerts worldwide.

To mark the milestone, Mathieu announced a final tour titled “Goodbye My Love Goodbye.” The programme includes twelve concerts across Germany – opening on 28 October 2026 in Chemnitz’s Stadthalle and continuing in Berlin, Freiburg, Frankfurt, Hannover, Munich and other cities – as well as dates in Austria. The last stop of the farewell run is scheduled for 16 May 2027 in Prague. She also marked the birthday privately with her family in her hometown of Avignon, France. Florian Silbereisen, another German schlager star, praised Mathieu as his “luck‑charm” for his own early career.

Mathieu’s close ties to Germany include the nickname “Spatz von Avignon,” numerous German‑language hits and the award of the Bundesverdienstkreuz in 1984. The tour is expected to draw large audiences in the German‑speaking market before she retires from live performance.
