Mirgor CEO blames UOM for ongoing labor dispute
Mirgor CEO José Luis Alonso has placed the responsibility for the company's current labor dispute on the Unión Obrera Metalúrgica (UOM). In an interview with TV Pública Fueguina, Alonso stated that the resolution of the conflict and the continuity of jobs depend on union leaders abandoning industrial actions in favor of negotiation.
Alonso criticized the UOM leadership in Río Grande, claiming they do not understand how to negotiate without conflict. He distinguished between the workers, whom he described as “exceptional,” and the union leadership. He noted that while 90% of the workforce wants to work, many are currently afraid. The CEO emphasized that maintaining production and competitiveness is essential for job security and the future of the regional industrial regime.
