Miriam Almeida Sánchez identified as woman found dead in Nogales

Miriam Almeida Sánchez, a 47-year-old woman who had been missing since August 6, has been identified as the body found in a vacant lot in the Felipe Carrillo Puerto neighborhood of Nogales, Veracruz.

Due to an advanced state of decomposition, authorities used DNA testing and genetic confrontations at the Centro de Identificación Genética Forense in Colorines to confirm her identity. The body was discovered on August 22 following reports of strong odors in the area.

Investigators noted that the victim showed signs of violence, including injuries apparently caused by a sharp object. The case remains under investigation by the Fiscalía Regional de Justicia del XV Distrito as they work to establish responsibility for the death.
