A 3-year-old girl was rescued after a drowning incident at the Morlet beach within the Grand Parc de Miribel-Jonage in Vaulx-en-Velin on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

The child was found in cardiopulmonary arrest and was successfully resuscitated on-site by firefighters and SMUR medical teams. Following the rescue, she was transported in critical condition to the Femme Mère Enfant hospital in Bron. Emergency services, including an aerial unit, were mobilized to the scene during the incident, which occurred around 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

This incident marks the eighth recorded drowning in the Rhône department since the beginning of 2026.
