Colo Colo controversy erupts over Mirko Jozic's legacy
Controversy has emerged regarding the upcoming visit of Mirko Jozic to Chile, the coach who led Colo Colo to the 1991 Copa Libertadores title. Jozic is scheduled to return to the country on September 9 for a series of commemorative activities and honors organized by the club.
Former Colo Colo president Peter Dragicevic has sparked backlash by downplaying Jozic’s status, stating, “For me, Mirko Jozic is not an idol, he is a worker that I hired.” Dragicevic argued that the club provided the necessary tools and structure for the success and suggested that Jozic should be grateful for the opportunity provided by the institution.
In response, Lana Pirija Jozic, the coach’s daughter, criticized Dragicevic on social media. She accused the former president of egoism and reminded him of his leadership during the club’s financial bankruptcy in 2002. She emphasized that Jozic’s legacy is cemented by the 1991 continental title, which remains a defining moment in the club’s history.
