Mirko Lodedo's Dawn Piano Concert Attracts Audiences in Brindisi

On Saturday, 8 August, pianist Mirko Lodedo performed a solo piano concert‑spectacle titled “All’alba… vi racconto il mio piano” at 4:30 a.m. on the historic Scalinata Virgilio in Brindisi, Italy. The free event is part of the “Verdi in Città” series promoted by the Fondazione Nuovo Teatro Verdi, with support from the Comune di Brindisi and collaborations from the Polo Biblio‑Museale, the Basilica Cattedrale di Brindisi and Puglia Culture.

Lodedo presented an original program composed entirely by him, with texts co‑written with Enrico Messina. The music, played on an 88‑key piano, traces his personal and artistic journey, blending autobiographical narratives with references to Nino Rota’s cinema. The concert begins before sunrise, with the harbour still in darkness, and continues as the sun rises at 5:52 a.m., creating a seamless integration of sound, space and the city’s early‑morning light. Over the years the concert has become a beloved summer tradition that draws multiple generations to the waterfront setting.
