Mirmo de Pon! manga series to launch new installment in 2026

The shojo manga series ‘Mirmo de Pon!’, written by Hiromu Shinozuka and serialized in Shogakukan’s ‘Ciao’ magazine starting in 2001, is experiencing renewed interest due to the ‘Heisei retro’ trend. The series, which has surpassed 3 million copies in circulation, follows the romantic comedy adventures of a middle school girl named Kaede and a mischievous love fairy named Mirmo who appears from her mug.

Originally winning the Kodansha Manga Award and the Shogakukan Manga Award in 2003, the franchise also saw a successful TV anime adaptation between 2002 and 2005. A new manga series titled ‘Mirmo de Pon! New’ is scheduled to begin serialization in March 2026, marking the first new installment in 21 years.
