Mirna Noia apologizes for offensive cap targeting Brazil's First Lady

Mirna Noia, a physician and wife of the former mayor of Patos, Paraíba, has issued a public apology after wearing a cap featuring an offensive slogan directed at Brazil's First Lady, Rosângela da Silva, known as Janja.

The cap contained the phrase “Make Janja Quenga Again,” a parody of a political slogan from the United States. Noia described the act as a “very bad taste joke” and apologized to Janja and to women who felt offended by the remark. She stated that she acted in the heat of political emotion and did not anticipate the scale of the backlash.

Noia also addressed controversy regarding a message she posted on Donald Trump's profile, where she alleged without evidence that the Brazilian elections were fraudulent. She retracted those claims, stating her comments regarding intervention referred to alleged electoral irregularities rather than foreign intervention in Brazil.

The Municipal Council for Women's Rights and Human Diversity in Patos has repudiated the offense and requested an administrative and ethical investigation into the doctor's conduct.
