Mirna Noia apologizes for offensive cap targeting First Lady Janja

Mirna Noia, a physician and wife of former mayor Dinaldinho Wanderley Filho, has issued an apology following social media backlash over an offensive cap. The cap featured the phrase ‘Make Janja a quenga again,’ a derogatory play on Donald Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan directed at Brazil’s First Lady, Janja.

Noia described the post as a ‘joke of very bad taste’ and stated she did not anticipate the scale of the repercussion. In a video apology, she expressed regret for her expression and for offending women.

Additionally, Noia addressed a message she posted on Donald Trump’s profile requesting intervention in Brazil. She clarified that her comments regarding intervention were intended to refer to alleged electoral fraud rather than a request for the U.S. President to intervene in Brazilian domestic affairs.
