Miro Bulj faces defamation lawsuit from CIOS Group owner Petar Pripuz
Petar Pripuz, owner of the CIOS Group, has initiated legal proceedings against Croatian Member of Parliament Miro Bulj for defamation. The lawsuit follows Bulj’s July statements in Split, where he characterized waste separation processes as “Pripuz’s mafia and similar.”
A private lawsuit filed by Pripuz’s lawyers was initially rejected by the Municipal Criminal Court in Zagreb because prior approval from the Croatian Parliament had not been obtained to prosecute a sitting MP. Consequently, Pripuz’s legal team has formally requested the Parliament to lift Bulj’s immunity to allow the criminal proceedings to continue.
Miro Bulj, a representative of the Most party, has responded by publicly requesting that the Parliament strip him of his immunity rather than seeking protection from it. Bulj stated that he does not fear lawsuits or powerful figures and refused to be silenced regarding his criticisms of the waste management system. The Parliamentary Mandate and Immunity Committee is scheduled to discuss the removal of Bulj’s immunity.
