Miroslav Heredoš withdraws from Bratislava mayoral race

Miroslav Heredoš, a candidate for the mayor of Bratislava, has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming election due to serious health issues.

Heredoš reported on social media that he suffered a heart problem on September 26, 2026, which required hospital treatment. Following medical advice, he must observe four to six weeks of bed rest, making it impossible to continue his campaign.

Running under the Vlastenecký Blok banner, the 44-year-old activist was known for his vocal criticism of pandemic-era government measures. His withdrawal leaves five other candidates competing for the mayoral position in the Slovak capital.
