Mirra Andreeva defeats Janice Tjen at US Open

Mirra Andreeva, the fifth seed and 2026 French Open champion, advanced to the second round of the US Open after defeating Indonesia’s Janice Tjen in straight sets. The match, held at the Louis Armstrong Stadium, ended with a score of 6-2, 6-2.

Andreeva dominated the encounter, converting all four of her break point opportunities while preventing Tjen from securing any. Despite Tjen managing to keep the score competitive early in both sets—reaching 2-2 in the first and leading 1-0 in the second—Andreeva’s consistency eventually overwhelmed the 24-year-old.

Andreeva is scheduled to face Germany’s Eva Lys in the next round. Tjen, currently ranked 36th in the world, finished the match having won only 31 of the 89 total points played.
