Mirra Andrejeva Wins First Grand Slam at Roland Garros

Nineteen‑year‑old Russian Mirra Andrejeva captured her maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open, defeating Poland’s Maya Khvalinska 6‑3, 6‑2 in the women's singles final. The victory makes Andrejeva the youngest Roland Garros champion since Monica Seles in 1992 and the first Russian to win the tournament after Maria Sharapova’s 2012 and 2014 triumphs.

Andrejeva, who described herself as feeling “more mature and experienced,” praised her coach Conti‑Martinez and highlighted the intense focus that helped her maintain concentration despite windy conditions and a brief rain delay. Khvalinska, a qualifier who had fought through 15 hours and 44 minutes of earlier matches, was unable to match Andrejeva’s power and consistency, allowing the Russian to dominate the final in 88 minutes.
